Katie Schmidt: Director

Katie holds a bachelor’s degree in Drama with an Honors in Costume Design from the University of California, Irvine. Just recently, in May 2011 she completed a master’s degree in Luxury and Fashion Management from SKEMA Business School in the Silicon Valley of France, Sophia Antipolis. Previously, Katie worked as a freelance costume designer and crafts person in several theaters in California.  Katie has a passion for travelling and she has been to over 26 countries in 5 continents in the world. She had the opportunity to volunteer, work and study in these various countries.

 

Aaron Burch: MBA Finance Intern

Prior to enrolling at Tulane, Aaron worked with the start-up of Women’s Professional Soccer based in San Francisco where he was the League Operations Manager. He worked previously as a Senior District Executive with the Boy Scouts of America. He is pursuing an MBA with an Energy Specialization and plans to pursue a career in emerging energy technologies upon graduation.

 

 

Sara Steele: MBA Marketing Intern

Sara Steele recently moved from Washington, D.C. where she spent the last ten years working primarily for the U.S. federal government.  In her previous role, Sara served as the communications director for the Task Force for Business and Stability Operations, a mission focused on bringing international business development and economic stabilization to Iraq and Afghanistan.  Sara focused most of her efforts on Iraqi women, traveling to the country over 20 times and helping them improve their access to capitol to start their own businesses.

Rachel Bain: PR Intern

Rachel is a sophomore at Tulane University double majoring in Spanish and Economics with a minor in International Development. She also has an internship with 504ward, a non-profit dedicated to retaining young talent in New Orleans. Alongside her internships and studies, she pursues a passion for community service as VP of Service for the campus’ community service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega.

 

 

Ella Dove: Retail Associate

Ella is a sophomore at Tulane studying International Development and Economics. She loves to travel, and takes every opportunity she can to go somewhere new. In the past she has worked with an Karong Medical Clinic in Botswana, and brought the lessons learned back to reach out to peers through HIV/Aids education. She hopes that one day her career will allow her to travel all over the world, working with everything from community nutrition to fair trade!

 

 

Tamara Dukich: Retail Associate

Tamara is a sophomore at Tulane studying Neuroscience. She is very interested in helping out women in third-world countries and has thus found success in volunteering for and researching Fair Trade and microlending initiatives. She is really excited to be continuing her journey by working at IN Exchange this year!

 

 

 

Kayla Murphy: Retail Associate

My name is a sophomore from New York majoring in Political Economy and International Development. Her interest in fair trade stems from the six weeks she spent living in Cambodia, where she was given the opportunity to meet some of the people who actually produce fair trade goods. “It was truly amazing experience and one I will never forget. And, I mean, who could forget eating fried tarantula….” says Kayla.
